Truck Loading & LDM Calculation Guide

What is LDM (Loading Meters)?

LDM (Loading Meter) is the international standard measure for freight capacity, equal to 1 linear meter of truck cargo bay across its full 2.4 m width. Formula: LDM = (Length × Width) / 2.4. One Euro pallet (1.2m × 0.8m) equals 0.4 LDM, and one FIN pallet (1.2m × 1.0m) equals 0.5 LDM.

Vehicle Cargo Bay Dimensions (L × W × H) Euro Pallets (pcs) FIN Pallets (pcs) Max Volume (m³) Max LDM
Standard Semi-trailer (13.6 m) 13.6 × 2.45 × 2.70 m 33 26 ~90 m³ 13.6 LDM
Rigid Truck (7.5 m) 7.50 × 2.45 × 2.50 m 18 14 ~46 m³ 7.5 LDM
Cargo Van (4.2 m) 4.20 × 2.10 × 1.90 m 8 6 ~16.7 m³ 3.5 LDM

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the 3D truck load planner work?

The planner arranges your pallets in 3D based on multi-drop route planning (LIFO order: the last delivery stop items are packed deepest against the front cabin) while calculating volume and height utilization.

How do you navigate the 3D model?

Click and drag the left mouse button to rotate 360°. Scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in and out. Hold the right mouse button to pan and reposition the vehicle.

How many euro pallets fit in a standard 13.6m semi-trailer?

A standard 13.6 m European semi-trailer accommodates 33 Euro pallets (1200 × 800 mm) in a single floor tier, or up to 66 pallets when double-stacked if cargo height and weight limits allow.

How are Loading Meters (LDM) calculated?

LDM is calculated by multiplying length by width and dividing by 2.4 m. For example: (1.2 m × 0.8 m) / 2.4 m = 0.4 LDM per Euro pallet.
