Choose a profile and material, enter the dimensions — get the theoretical weight. Enter the price per ton and we'll instantly calculate the price of the part.
| Profile | Area (cross-section) |
|---|---|
| Sheet / strip | thickness × width |
| Round bar | π/4 × diameter² |
| Square / rectangular bar | a × b |
| Hexagonal bar | (3√3/2) × edge² |
| Round tube | π/4 × (D² − d²), d = D − 2×wall |
| Square / rectangular tube | a×b − (a−2t)×(b−2t) |
| L / T / U profiles | simplified sum of rectangles (without fillet radius) |
Weight (kg) = area (m²) × length (m) × density (kg/m³). Density values are standard reference figures; for exact grades check the manufacturer's specification.
Theoretical weight is calculated from ideal geometry (without cutting tolerances, fillet radii, rolling tolerances). The actual weight of a part can differ by ±2-5% depending on the manufacturer.
The calculator uses standard reference density values. Different grades of alloy steel or stainless steel can vary by a few percent — for a more precise calculation, select "Other" and enter the density specified by the manufacturer.
After entering the price per ton (€/t), the calculator divides it by 1000 (price per kg) and multiplies it by the total weight — giving the final price of the part.
